The blast at an Israeli electric company’s factory in Tel Aviv has killed at least six people and injured scores more, Israel’s health ministry said Thursday.
The blast occurred on Thursday evening at the Atsinbik electrical engineering company’s facility in the southern Israeli town of Givat Ze’ev.
The Israeli Civil Defense Authority said the building’s roof collapsed on a group of workers and the blast damaged their vehicles.
The accident comes amid heightened tension in Israel over rising tensions over the Palestinian West Bank.
On Monday, three Palestinians were killed in a Palestinian explosion at a Gaza factory in a rare incident that has raised questions over Israeli security measures.
In the West Bank, the United Nations says nearly 1,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli security forces since the start of the year, with an additional 872 wounded.
