A Harvard Electrical and Computer Engineering student died Sunday after an accident involving an electric car during a test drive in New Hampshire, police said.
The driver of the Tesla Model S suffered non-life threatening injuries and was being treated at a hospital, New Hampshire State Police said.
Authorities said the crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. on the University Parkway.
The car was driven by a student, a graduate student in electrical engineering and a junior engineering student, the department said in a statement.
The accident is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police.
A police spokesman declined to elaborate.
“At this time, we do not have any information that would indicate what may have caused this accident, but it is being treated as a very tragic event,” the statement said.
Harvard has an estimated 250 undergraduate electrical engineering students enrolled in the department.
