(AP) AUBREY, Ala., April 29 – Electrical engineering students at Auburn University are working on projects with the power grid.
The university’s students are studying how to connect wind turbines and solar arrays to a power grid and also making the grid more efficient.
The students are working with a company that builds wind turbines to make the electricity more efficient and can help other companies find ways to make power more efficient as well.
The university says about 10 students are in the Electrical Engineering Internship Program.
The group is learning how to make solar panels work in a power system, how to wire up the grid to keep it working, and how to design the equipment that runs the grid.
A team of electrical engineers and students is working with the company to build the turbines and install the arrays.
